ASU offers guaranteed job for Grads with new program

Arizona State University is now offering a new program to students interested in software development. This program is a camp structured to last 10 to 14 weeks and unlike most other camps of a similar structure, this one is free. Other camps prices can run into the $20,000-dollar range for such an immersive experience but Revature, the company partnered with ASU and endorsing this program, is allowing ASU students the opportunity to get a jump start into the programming industry through this camp.

On top of this in depth experience, Revature is also providing accepted applicants a salary so their main focus during their stay will be to learn and grow as programmers. As Joe Mitchell said, the senior vice president of university partnerships at Revature, “We don’t want them to have to worry about getting a job in the evening, we want them to be focused on the skill set. We pay them so they don’t need another job.”

In addition to the free camp and salaries, attendees are often hired straight out of college into Fortune 500 companies, such as Verizon, Microsoft and Goldman Sachs. Many attendees can earn six-figure salaries in as little as four to five years after employment. Revature also benefits from the venture, stating that they intend to hire 1,000 graduates from ASU in the coming years.

Their program takes undergraduate students with even minimal knowledge of software development and provides them with 2 years’ worth of technical training. The first camp begins in January 2017 at the ASU Skysong Innovation Center in Scottsdale. Twelve lucky students will be accepted into that term, but for students who are not accepted, there are online classes that are set at the pace of the student that are provided by Revature.
