The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is calling on the community to help in the search for missing individuals across Arizona, a state where over 1,000 people are currently unaccounted for, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NaMUS). In a recent Facebook post, the MCSO highlighted this alarming statistic, urging residents to join the effort to locate these missing persons and bring them home.
The Facebook post features a video with Detective Bowers of the Maricopa Police Department’s General Crimes Division, who emphasized the crucial role that public awareness and involvement play in these searches. “With your help, we can raise awareness, share important updates, and work together to bring loved ones home,” wrote MCSO, reflecting the department’s reliance on community support to make progress in these challenging cases.
In the video, Detective Bowers highlighted the case of 67-year-old Dalys Kezar, a resident of Whispering Ranch, who has been missing since July 11th. According to Bowers, Kezar left his residence late that evening, heading south into a wash. The next morning, July 12th, Kezar made a brief phone call to his daughter, explaining that he was resting under a tree in the wash. Tragically, his phone died shortly after, and he has not been heard from since.
The MCSO’s Facebook post is not just an update; it is a plea for assistance. “If you have any information or know anyone who might, please call the MCSO Tip Line at 602-876-8477 or the MCSO Non-Emergency line at 602-876-1011 and reference IR24-017615,” the post reads, underscoring the urgency of the situation. Every tip, no matter how small, could be a vital clue in finding Kezar and reuniting him with his family.
This case is a stark reminder of the broader issue of missing persons in Arizona. With over 1,000 people still unaccounted for, the MCSO and other law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to solve these cases. However, they cannot do it alone. The MCSO’s post calls on the community to be vigilant, to share information, and to help spread awareness of these missing persons.
“Your help can make all the difference,” Detective Bowers stressed in the video. The MCSO believes that collective action—whether it’s sharing a social media post, keeping an eye out in your neighborhood, or providing information to law enforcement—can lead to breakthroughs in these cases. The power of community involvement cannot be overstated, and in situations like these, it can be the key to saving lives.
As the search for Dalys Kezar continues, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office remains hopeful that with the public’s help, they can bring closure to his family and the families of the other missing individuals across Arizona. The MCSO urges anyone who may have seen or heard something related to Kezar’s disappearance to come forward.
