Arizona Woman Sentenced to 15 Years for Child’s Fatal Overdose on Fentanyl and Meth

The case, which unfolded on the Tohono O’odham Nation, highlights the devastating toll of the fentanyl crisis on Arizona’s communities.

An Arizona woman has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after a child fatally overdosed on drugs she provided. According to federal prosecutors, 47-year-old Stacie Marie Narcho of Sells, Arizona, gave a minor both methamphetamine and fentanyl in November 2022, resulting in the child’s death.

The tragic incident occurred on the Tohono O’odham Nation in Pima County. Following her release from prison, Narcho will serve three years of supervised release. Officials said the case underscores the severe dangers posed by exposing children to illicit substances, particularly synthetic opioids like fentanyl.

Investigators from the FBI’s Tucson office and the Tohono O’odham Nation Police Department led the investigation, while the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona prosecuted the case. Federal authorities emphasized that the sentence reflects an effort to hold accountable those who endanger children through drug-related crimes.

Arizona continues to battle the effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine in communities across the state, with law enforcement urging awareness and prevention efforts to protect young people from similar tragedies.
