Arizona Theatre Company to Launch 50th season

After fundraising the necessary amount of money, the Arizona Theatre Company has revealed that everyone can look forward to the launch of their 50th season in September!

Performances for the 50th Golden Anniversary Season will be held at Phoenix’s Herberger Theater Center and the Temple of Music and Art in Tucson.

The line-up begins with the opening of Mike Bartlett’s “King Charles III,” recipient of the 2015 Olivier Award for Best Play. This Shakespearian-style play explores events following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. This performance runs in Tucson from September 10th-30th, and in Phoenix from October 6th-23rd.


Following that, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’s David Javerbaum’s Broadway hit “An Act of God” opens in Tucson on October 22-November 12, and in Phoenix from November 17th-December 4th. In this comedy, God descends to answer some questions from Earth’s human inhabitants.

The popular musical “Fiddler on the Roof,” about a persecuted Jewish Russian family and the bonds between family, tradition and faith, opens in Tucson from December 3rd-31st and in Phoenix from January 6th-29th, 2017.

The winner of Arizona Theatre Company’s National Latino Playwriting Award “The River Bride” by Marisela Treviño Orta, based in Brazilian folklore and lyrical storytelling, opens in Tucson on January 14th-February 4th, 2017, and in Phoenix from February 9th-26th, 2017.

Hear all of Johnny Cash’s hits, such as “I Walk the Line” and “A Boy Named Sue” in “Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash.” This performance opens in Tucson on March 4th-25th, 2017, and in Phoenix from March 30th-April 16th,2017.

Lastly, Spring brings performances of the Sherlock Holmes mystery “Holmes and Watson” by Jeffrey Hatcher. This can be attended in Tucson beginning April 15th-May 6th, 2017, and in Phoenix on May 11th-28th, 2017.
