Arizona Senate President to Meet with Trump Administration Officials

Discussions to Focus on Gas Prices, Air Quality, and Immigration Policies

PHOENIX, AZ – Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen is traveling to Washington, D.C., this week for meetings with multiple officials in President Trump’s administration to discuss key policy issues affecting Arizona.

Meetings with Federal Officials

Petersen is scheduled to meet with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to address Arizona’s rising gas prices, air quality, and water security concerns.

Petersen argues that gas blend regulations specific to Arizona contribute to higher fuel costs in the state. Additionally, he plans to discuss electric vehicle mandates, stating that regulations should balance environmental protection with economic growth.

Arizona Senate President to Discuss Immigration Issues with U.S. Attorney General

Petersen will also meet with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to discuss legal challenges and immigration-related litigation in Arizona.

“There are at least 50 lawsuits that I can talk to Bondi about,” Petersen said. “Whenever we have a problem that can’t be fixed, when I get to the root of it, it’s usually a court ruling, a bad court case, or some kind of federal regulation.”

Petersen’s Legislative Concerns

The Senate president said he plans to work with federal officials to remove regulatory barriers that he believes hinder Arizona’s prosperity and economic growth.

“We want to be able to talk about the many federal regulations that are preventing Arizona from being prosperous and progressing and seeing how we can work with them to unwind some of those things,” Petersen added.

His meetings come as Arizona’s legislature continues to push back against federal policies that state leaders believe negatively impact the state’s economy and governance.
