Arizona Science Center Reopening to Public

The Arizona Science Center will soon be open to all for learning and exploration.

Members were allowed back beginning Friday and the general public will be allowed inside next Friday.

“Our world has changed. Our method of bringing science to our guests has changed, but our mission has not,” Chevy Humphrey, Arizona Science Center president and CEO, said in a statement.

“Following strict health and safety guidelines, our doors will reopen with modified museum experiences designed to inspire, educate, and engage curious minds through science.”

Guests will be able to explore levels 1, 2 and 3 on their own from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., according to the center’s Facebook page. They have set up a path that promotes physical distancing.

There will be two time slots for 90-minute group tours each day. There are two options for group tours: Extra-Ordinary: The Science of Superpowers and T-Rex Unearthed: The Story of Victoria.

These tours will be limited to 10 guests per group.

Some exhibits will remain closed. The center itself will be closed on Tuesdays for cleaning.

Safety protocols that were implemented during the center’s brief opening in June will remain in place.

The science center had a phased reopening in mid-June, and the general public was allowed in on June 20. Ten days later, the center announced it was closing the facility once more.

All guests and employees in the science center will be required to wear a face mask and socially distance.

Memberships to the center have been extended by six months.

Guests are also encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, as there will be a limited number sold each day.

“With almost 200,000 square feet of space, we have the perfect set up to be able to enjoy science safely,” Humphrey said. “We are eager to also be able to provide safe and responsible ways for our community to engage with science.”
