Arizona school Districts Closed Monday For Teacher Walkout
Families are waking up Monday morning with the statewide teacher walkout still looming. Across Arizona multiple school districts will remain closed Monday as the statewide walkout education funding continues into a new week.
An estimated 54,000 Educators and supporters attended the rallies at the state Capitol on Thursday and Friday to protest low pay and school conditions. More protest at the Capitol is expected on Monday.
Arizona Education Association President Joe Thomas announced plans the following districts that will remain closed for the walkouts:
Alhambra Elementary District
Amphitheater Public Schools
Apache Junction Unified School District
Balsz School District
Cartwright School District
Catalina Foothills School District
Chandler Unified School District
Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District
Deer Valley Unified School District
Dysart Unified School District
Flagstaff Unified School District
Florence Unified School District
Flowing Wells Unified School District
Gilbert Public School District
Glendale Elementary School District
Glendale Union High School District
Higley Unified School District
Humboldt Unified School District
J.O. Combs Unified School District
Kingman Unified School District: All schools except Mount Tipton and La Senita will be closed.
Kyrene School District
Laveen School District: All schools will operate on a half-day schedule.
Liberty Elementary School District
Litchfield Elementary School District
Madison Elementary School District
Marana Unified School District
Maricopa Unified School District
Mesa Public SchoolsOsborn School District
Paradise Valley Unified School District
Pendergast Elementary School District
Peoria Unified School District: Schools are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday.
