Friday’s daily report from the state health department showed a surge in Arizona’s coronavirus cases and deaths.
Arizona saw an additional 67 deaths from Thursday to Friday, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 517.
The report showed that state’s positive cases increased by 581, bringing the total number of cases in Arizona to 10,526. The report showed it was Arizona’s largest daily case and death increase on record.
According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, the big jump in the number of fatalities was a result of new death certificate surveillance dating back to April 12. The numbers accounted for more than half of the deaths reported Friday. The Arizona Department of Health Services would like to inform us that the daily reports present data after the state receives statistics and compiles them, which can lag by several days. The daily reports do not necessarily represent the actual activity state over the past 24 hours.
The research revealed up 35 of the deaths reported on Friday, which means there was a relatively high single-day report of 32. A daily total that has seemed to be consistent each day this week.
The state received an addition 67 positive test, increasing the state total to now 10,526. This report showed Arizona’s largest daily case and death increase on record.
Johns Hopkins University reported Arizona moved up to 46th among states in coronavirus testing per capita on Thursday. That is up from the original report of Arizona being 50th.
Nationally, there has been 73,297 deaths from more than 1.2 million COVID-19 cases as of Thursday. As for Friday morning, there have been nearly 3.9 million cases and more than 270,000 deaths globally.
