Arizona Man Sentenced to Prison for DUI Rollover Crash with Children in Vehicle

Frank John Kinale III Convicted of Child Abuse After Intoxicated Crash Injures Two Minors

PHOENIX — An Arizona man was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison last week for driving under the influence and causing a rollover crash that injured two children in his vehicle, authorities said.

Frank John Kinale III, 38, of Parker, pleaded guilty to child abuse on September 3, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

A federal judge ordered Kinale’s prison sentence to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Incident Details

The crash occurred on September 21, 2021, on the Colorado River Indian Tribes reservation in western Arizona. Kinale, intoxicated at the time, rolled his vehicle with two minors on board, resulting in injuries to both children.

Because Kinale and the victims are members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, the case fell under federal jurisdiction.

Investigation and Prosecution

The case was investigated by the FBI and tribal police, with federal authorities in Phoenix prosecuting the matter.

This sentencing highlights the severity of driving under the influence, particularly when minors are endangered, and underscores federal authorities’ commitment to pursuing justice in such cases.
