PHOENIX — An Arizona man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling fentanyl that led to the death of a teenager, federal authorities announced Tuesday.
Thomas Franklin Wilson, 29, also known as “Tee Woopin,” admitted to selling 13 fentanyl pills to a 17-year-old girl and her friend in April 2021. The girl overdosed and died from fentanyl toxicity, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
Wilson pleaded guilty in March to one count of distribution of fentanyl. In addition to his prison term, he will serve five years of supervised release.
Investigation and Sentence
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Tohono O’odham Police Department.
“This case underscores the devastating impact of fentanyl in our communities,” authorities said in the release.
