Arizona Man Arrested for Online Threat Against Protest

55-year-old allegedly threatened violence ahead of ‘No Kings’ demonstrations

PHOENIX — A 55-year-old Arizona man was arrested last Friday after allegedly posting a violent threat online aimed at a planned protest, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said.

Richard Charles Bertram of Golden Valley was taken into custody on felony charges of making a terroristic threat and misdemeanor threatening. Deputies said Bertram posted a social media message that included threats to shoot protest attendees, along with an image displaying guns and ammunition.

Authorities contacted Bertram at his residence and said he admitted to making the post. Records showed he was already on probation for previous weapons charges.

Though MCSO didn’t name the specific protest involved, several “No Kings” demonstrations were held statewide over the weekend in opposition to former President Donald Trump and ICE.

Bertram was booked into a Kingman jail.
