Arizona Lottery Stops Ticket Sales and Prize Redemption Due To System Outage

Arizonans looking to purchase a lottery ticket or cash in a winning ticket are out of luck for the time being due to the Arizona lottery system crash which has stopped all lottery ticket sales.

If you have a winning Arizona Lottery ticket, officials are letting you know that you aren’t able to cash it out just yet. Lottery officials continue to work with their operating partner to fix the outage that originated Thursday morning.

All lottery sales and prize redemptions were halted on Thursday morning after lottery officials say their operating partner, Scientific Games, experienced an outage which has remained unresolved.

The outage was caused by a system update in which they were installing two new lottery games. As a result, the system crashed.

Until the system is fixed, lottery officials say Arizonans will not be able to buy or redeem any lottery tickets. However, drawings for lottery games will continue as scheduled to honor tickets purchased before the outage.

“We apologize to our lottery players, our retailer partners, and the lottery’s beneficiary community,” said Arizona Lottery Executive Director Gregg Edgar. “Protecting the integrity of the Lottery’s games is paramount to our operations. We are working diligently to bring our games back online as quickly and reliably as possible while keeping our players, retailers, and beneficiaries top of mind.”

Officials have not released an estimated timeframe for when ticket sales and prize redemptions will back in operation.
