Arizona High Schools Boast Ivy League Pipeline

Recent information has unveiled which Arizona high schools produce the most graduates that go on to attend Princeton University, Harvard University or Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Those universities are listed as the top three in the most recent college rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

The data produced was sourced from PolarisList, a national website that gathers over 9,600 records from public and private high schools. The resource helped discover which high schools had graduates go on to attend one of those premier universities in the years from 2015-2017.

Those three universities were selected by PolarisList as a result of “a combination of their selectivity and their accessibility to lower-income students.” The data also made sure to tally the number of enrollees as opposed to those that were admitted to avoid any possible data skewing due to students being accepted by multiple colleges.

According to PolarisList, 54 high schools across seven Arizona counties saw at least one graduate go on to attend Princeton, Harvard or MIT. A majority of the 54 high schools were located within Maricopa County.

Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Virginia leads the nation with 79 students having gone on to enroll at one of the three elite universities.
