PHOENIX — Arizona high school seniors can earn free spring training tickets this season simply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
This initiative, now in its third year, is a collaboration between the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) and the Cactus League. It aims to boost FAFSA completion rates and promote access to higher education.
Addressing Low FAFSA Completion Rates
Arizona ranked second to last in FAFSA completion in 2024, with students leaving $300 million in Pell Grant funding unclaimed over the past three years, according to ABOR.
“FAFSA is every student’s ticket to education success,” said ABOR Chair Cecilia Mata. “Completing the FAFSA is strongly correlated with students enrolling in a postsecondary institution immediately after high school and opens the door to most financial aid, scholarships, federal and state grants, and work-study opportunities.”
The partnership also underscores the economic impact of both the Cactus League and Arizona’s public universities.
“When it comes to paying for college, FAFSA is a home run,” said Cactus League Executive Director Bridget Binsbacher.
How to Get Free Spring Training Tickets
High school seniors who complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA can submit an online form to claim their tickets. Eligible students will receive 2-4 tickets to one of 107 games hosted across eight Cactus League stadiums.
A FAFSA form must be on file with the U.S. Department of Education to qualify for the program.
Promoting Educational Opportunities
This collaboration aims to make higher education more accessible for Arizona students and strengthen the state’s workforce by encouraging postsecondary enrollment.
For seniors ready to apply, the FAFSA completion process opens the door to financial aid and a chance to enjoy a day at the ballpark.
