Arizona Health Officials Reports 440 New Coronavirus Cases and Adds 32 Additional Deaths

Just days from Arizona stay-at-home executive order expiring, the Arizona Department of Health Services reported Wednesday morning there have been 440 new positive coronavirus cases and 32 additional deaths.

The report brings the state’s totals to 12,176 reported positive cases and 594 COVID-19 deaths.

Gov. Doug Ducey announced Tuesday that a decrease in positive test result percentage, adequate hospital capacity and expanded testing numbers, that Arizona’s stay-at-home order, would expire as scheduled on Friday, May 15th.

Ducey also announced that gyms, fitness centers and pools were permitted to open on Wednesday. His office also gave the go ahead to movie theaters opening on Saturday. All businesses that are resuming operations must follow physical distancing and enhanced sanitation guidelines all based on industry.

As of Tuesday, nationally the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 80,820 deaths from more than 1.3 million COVID-19 cases.

As of Wednesday, Johns Hopkins University reported there have been 4.3 million cases and over 293,000 deaths globally.
