Phoenix, AZ – In anticipation of the upcoming flu season, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has rolled out a new statewide vaccination campaign aimed at increasing immunization rates across the state. This initiative, which targets both urban and rural communities, is part of a broader effort to protect public health and ensure that all Arizonans have access to essential vaccines.
The campaign will feature mobile vaccination units, strategically deployed to underserved areas where access to healthcare can be challenging. These units will travel to schools, community centers, and public events, offering flu shots and other vital vaccines to residents who might otherwise face barriers to getting vaccinated.
“Our priority is to make vaccines accessible to everyone in Arizona, especially those in remote or underserved areas,” said Dr. Cara Christ, Director of ADHS. “By bringing these services directly to communities, we’re making it easier for people to protect themselves and their families against the flu and other preventable diseases.”
In addition to the mobile units, the campaign will include a robust public awareness effort, with educational materials distributed through local media, social media platforms, and community partners. The goal is to inform Arizonans about the importance of vaccination and encourage them to take advantage of the free or low-cost options available through the campaign.
ADHS has also collaborated with local healthcare providers and pharmacies to expand the reach of the campaign. These partnerships will help ensure that vaccines are available in a wide range of locations, making it convenient for people to get vaccinated close to home.
The statewide vaccination campaign is funded through a combination of state resources and federal support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The initiative is part of Arizona’s ongoing commitment to improving public health outcomes and reducing the spread of infectious diseases.
As the campaign gets underway, ADHS is urging all residents to participate, particularly those in high-risk groups such as the elderly, young children, and individuals with underlying health conditions. The department will continue to monitor vaccination rates and adjust its strategies as needed to ensure that as many Arizonans as possible are protected.
“We’re committed to doing everything we can to keep our communities healthy,” Dr. Christ added. “This campaign is a critical step in safeguarding public health as we enter flu season.”
