Arizona Has Two Top Ten Golf Courses

Though Scottsdale does not have a golf course in Arizona’s top ten, there are two that have made the list.  Arizona boasts three of the top 50 golf courses in the United States.

The best course in Arizona, according to the Golf Advisor’s list, is the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa which ranked number 6 in the top 50.  Quintero Golf Club in Peoria ranked in at number 8 and Los Caballeros Golf Club in Wickenburg made its appearance at number 26.

Golf Advisor compiles the rankings based on over 100, 000 reviews given by players from across the country.  Rankings are based on the course itself, staff friendliness, pace of play, and value.

The Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa is located 35 miles from Downtown Phoenix.  There are several golfing packages available ranging in price from $79 to $189 plus applicable taxes.  If you would like to see a flyover video of the course you can do so on their homepage.

In 2016 the Quintero Golf Club in Peoria was ranked as the “Best Public Course” by both Golf Digest and Golf Weekly magazines.  The course was designed by master golf course architect Rees Jones.  Enjoy this course in all its beauty as it is surrounded by spectacular, protected desert land.  There are three par 5 holes on the course.  The third hole is perhaps the most challenging with a scenic lake on the left side.  Some holes play uphill and some have a steep drop to the green so the course has an abundance of beauty and challenges.

Los Caballeros Golf Club in Wickenburg is a semi-private golf course 55 miles from greater Phoenix.  At the foot of the Bradshaw Mountains in the upper Sonoran Desert, this course is great for a golf vacation.  The course was constructed in 1979 by Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin and has design features such as rolling terrain, lakes, and strategically placed bunkers.  The course is set up to cater to a variety of playing levels.
