Arizona motorists are paying less for gasoline as fuel prices continue to trend downward for the fourth consecutive week, providing welcome savings as summer travel activity ramps up.
According to AAA, the average price of regular gasoline in Arizona has dropped nearly 20 cents over the past week, falling from $4.48 per gallon to $4.29. The decline mirrors a broader national trend that has pushed average fuel prices below the $4 mark for the first time since March.
Across the United States, the average cost of a gallon of regular gasoline now stands at $3.99, reflecting lower crude oil prices and improving market conditions.
The recent decrease comes as millions of Americans prepare for Independence Day travel. Lower fuel costs are expected to provide some financial relief for families planning road trips during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Despite the recent decline, Arizona remains among the most expensive states for gasoline. At an average of $4.29 per gallon, the state ranks eighth-highest nationally. Several West Coast states continue to post the highest fuel prices, led by Hawaii, followed by California, Washington, Alaska and Oregon.
Meanwhile, Indiana continues to report some of the nation’s lowest fuel prices, with drivers paying an average of about $3.39 per gallon.
Industry analysts attribute part of the recent decline to easing concerns in global energy markets and lower crude oil prices, helping bring fuel costs down as the summer driving season enters its busiest stretch.
