PHOENIX — Arizona’s newly approved state budget includes more than $28 million in funding for the state’s community college system, with key investments aimed at expanding educational access and workforce readiness.
The largest allocations are going to programs within the Maricopa Community Colleges system, including $6 million for adult education, over $8 million for STEM initiatives, and additional support for scholarships and teacher training.
The adult education funding will help learners without high school diplomas earn their equivalency and develop job skills, avoiding a waitlist that would have otherwise limited participation. Another key investment includes $900,000 annually for a new Community College Promise Scholarship, supporting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Arizona Teachers Academy and dual enrollment courses will also benefit from this round of funding, aimed at enhancing both college readiness and the state’s educator pipeline.
With the exception of the STEM funding, most of the new investments will go directly to students across Arizona’s community college network.
