Annual APS Electric Light Parade Returns to Phoenix on December 7

“Let Every Holiday Shine” Theme Promises a Spectacular Evening of Lights and Community

PHOENIX — The beloved APS Electric Light Parade is returning to central Phoenix on Saturday, Dec. 7, bringing holiday cheer with dazzling displays and festive community spirit. Hosted by Arizona Public Service (APS) and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, this year’s theme, “Let Every Holiday Shine,” invites participants to light up the night with creative, illuminated floats and displays.

The 2.3-mile parade will begin at 7 p.m., starting at Central Avenue and Montebello Avenue. The route travels south to Central Avenue and Camelback Road, heads east on Camelback Road to 7th Street, and continues south on 7th Street to conclude at Indian School Road. Parade entries will take approximately 60 minutes to reach the route’s end.

Tips for Attending the Parade

  • Arrive Early: Crowds are large, and viewing spots are first-come, first-served. Many spectators arrive hours before the parade starts to secure their place.
  • Use Valley Metro Light Rail: Avoid traffic by taking the Light Rail, which stops near Central Avenue just south of Camelback Road.
  • Dress for the Weather: The parade is a rain-or-shine event, so check the forecast and come prepared.
  • Bring Chairs and Blankets: Seating is not provided, so spectators are encouraged to bring their own.
  • Parking and Traffic: Street parking is first-come, first-served, with private lots near the route offering paid options. Expect road closures and delays hours before the event.
  • Follow Guidelines: Coolers are allowed, but alcohol and glass containers are prohibited. Spectators should help with cleanup by minimizing trash.
