Aldi Store Is Coming to Arizona

The first Aldi store in Arizona is opening in Buckeye early next year. They are also opening a distribution center in Goodyear in the year 2020.  Aldi says they have plans to open more stores in Arizona but have not released locations as of yet. Aldi plans to open 900 stores in the United States by 2022.

What is Aldi’s?

Aldi’s is a grocery store that is really popular in the Midwest and Eastern parts of the United States.  The store started in Germany and now has almost 1700 stores in the U.S., located in 35 states. Now Arizona will join that list. Aldi is different from most supermarkets because they are smaller and offer no special perks. They keep everything simple. They can sell things cheaper because over 90 percent of their products are the store brand.  They also save because the shoppers bring their own bags or buy them from the store. In addition, customers bag their own groceries. At Aldi’s, the customer pays a quarter to use a shopping cart and gets the quarter back when they return the cart. This eliminates the need to have employees round up carts.

Store Location

In Buckeye, the store will be in the Sundance Marketplace off Interstate 10, at the intersection of Yuma and Watson road. This store will feature tough competition because located in this shopping center is a Wal-Mart, a Fry’s store, and fast food restaurants. Burger King and Quick Quack Car Wash are expected to open this fall and Planet Fitness in early 2019. On the northeast corner, plans are projected to open a Hilton’s Home2Suites in early 2019, that will have 90 rooms on four stories, a pool, BBQ stations, fire pits, as well as laundry and meeting rooms.
