ADOT Pursuing New Ways To Assist Drivers With Social Media

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced that it will be focusing on social media in an effort alert drivers of traffic delays, road closures, and alternative routes.

Although ADOT lacks a social media division, they have however hired a fifth public information officer who will be responding to social media requests at all hours of the day, including on weekends and holidays.

In years prior, ADOT’s abilities were limited, which meant the department could only monitor Facebook and Twitter for 20 hours a day.

At present, 220,000 people follow ADOT’s Twitter account; the company created its account in 2008 and it has shown to be the platform they get the most attention on. The profile on its account reminds drivers to not Tweet and drive.
