ADOT Accepting Entries For Sign Contest

This year makes the third year for the Arizona Department of Transportation’s safety message contest.

Monday, April 29th is the deadline to submit safety slogans online for a chance for your message to be chosen for display on overhead signs above state highways. ADOT has received about 9,000 entries.

To qualify, an entry must be related to traffic safety, must fit into three lines, and be no more than 18 characters long per line.

Fifteen finalists will be chosen and the public will vote for their favorites. The two messages with the most votes will appear on overhead signs statewide.

“We’re not joking about safety – nothing is more important than safety at ADOT,” said the director of ADOT, John Halikowski.

“Some of the messages we display are humorous, but we’re using that humor to connect with drivers and get them thinking about the things that lead to preventable crashes and fatalities. These messages kick start conversations about safety and that’s a good thing.”
