A Scottsdale Japanese Steakhouse Set To Open In the West Valley

A popular East Valley restaurant has plans to head west.

Plans are in the works for Kasai Japanese Steakhouse in Scottsdale, formerly known as Sapporo, to open a second teppanyaki restaurant at the Park West shopping complex in Peoria.

Soporro, which was opened 20 years ago by Michael Russello, sold the restaurant, bought it back a few years ago and rebranded it into Kasai. Construction on the Peoria location is set to start in January with a goal of opening during the summer or fall of 2022.

Park West shopping complex in Peoria, located near the Arizona Cardinals stadium, has become a popular area with many stores and restaurants opening, such as Sicilian Baker, Jalapeno Inferno and Hash Kitchen BJ’s Restaurant, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, and Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers also have locations in the area.

Plans for the restaurant include 7,000-square-feet and will include a dining room with 12 teppanyaki tables, a bar, an outdoor patio, and of course the restaurant’s signature fire feature in front of the building.
