BUCKEYE — A 9-year-old boy is in critical condition after being pulled from a backyard pool in the Sundance Park community on Sunday afternoon, according to the Buckeye Fire Department.
Emergency crews responded just before 4 p.m., after the child was discovered face down in the water during a family gathering. Authorities said the boy had been unsupervised for about one minute before being found.

First responders provided immediate care at the scene before transporting the child to Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Avondale Campus, where he remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Fire officials said that while the boy was breathing when pulled from the pool, he required advanced medical treatment.
