Police Locate Vehicle but Driver Remains at Large After Deadly Collision

PHOENIX — A 70-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Phoenix early Monday morning, and police are now searching for the driver responsible.

Officers responded to the area of 37th and Peoria avenues around 6 a.m., where they found Alicia Melero Dominguez suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital but did not survive, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

What Happened?

Investigators believe Melero Dominguez was crossing Peoria Avenue mid-block when she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. The vehicle was later found near the scene, but the driver had already fled.
