49ers Receiver and Former ASU Star Ricky Pearsall Shot in San Francisco Robbery Attempt

Pearsall in Serious but Stable Condition After Weekend Shooting; Suspect in Custody

Ricky Pearsall, a former Arizona State University football star and current wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in San Francisco on Saturday afternoon. The 23-year-old is in serious but stable condition, according to the 49ers.

The incident occurred around 3:30 PM PT in Union Square. A 17-year-old suspect attempted to rob Pearsall at gunpoint, leading to an altercation during which both were injured by gunfire. The suspect was apprehended and will face charges in juvenile court.

Pearsall was transported to a hospital and is stable enough to speak with police. The investigation is ongoing, with no indication that Pearsall was targeted due to his NFL status. The 49ers and the football community are offering support as Pearsall recovers.
