2019 Phoenix-area Valentine’s Day Guide

Although the origin of Valentine’s Day remains somewhat of a mystery, the Catholic Church attributes it to a saint named Valentine that was martyred as the patron of lovers. The date was set to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial.

The countdown to Valentine’s Day is upon us. February 14th is just one week away, and If you’re looking for something to do with your loved ones, then Phoenix is full of events and a variety of other special deals to help your celebrate the romantic holiday.

Butterfly Wonderland


For $25 couples can learn more about the world of bugs while enjoying edible insect treats and light refreshments. This event takes place on Feb. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 9500 East Vía de Ventura.

If you’re craving seafood on Valentine’s Day, then this Tempe restaurant will be featuring a special platter complete with four oysters on the half shell, three marinated and grilled jumbo shrimp served with shallot mignonette, horseradish cocktail cause and Chimayo ailoi. Desert will showcase a berry chocolate cake made with red wine, raspberry sauce, raspberry cocoa nib gelato and chocolate covered strawberries.

Ballet Arizona

It doesn’t get any more romantic than the ballet. The Phoenix Symphony will showcase one of the most iconic romantic ballets, La Sylphide. It’s described as a tale of passion and elusive love features an alluring fairy and a diabolical witch who wreak havoc on the life of a young Scotsman. It will be paired with the highly-anticipated world premiere of The Firebird on Feb 14.
