2 Suspects Seriously Injured After Jumping from I-10 Bridge in Goodyear

Pair allegedly leaped from freeway to avoid arrest following shoplifting report

GOODYEAR — Two shoplifting suspects were hospitalized in critical condition Sunday evening after allegedly jumping from an Interstate 10 bridge in an attempt to flee from police, according to authorities.

The incident began around 5:30 p.m. when officers responded to a shoplifting call near McDowell and Dysart roads. A witness provided a description of the suspect vehicle and its location, helping police track it down.

When officers located the vehicle near Dysart Road on I-10, the suspects attempted to evade arrest. A man and woman exited the vehicle and allegedly jumped from the bridge, sustaining serious injuries.

Emergency crews transported both individuals to the hospital in critical condition.

Three others remained in the car and were detained by police at the scene.

The incident caused traffic delays on I-10 during the evening hours. The investigation is ongoing.
