PHOENIX — Two Mesa residents face up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to healthcare fraud, authorities said Tuesday.
CoEric Riley, 38, and Britney Gooch, 37, admitted to defrauding the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the state’s Medicaid agency, through their company, New Horizons Behavioral Health.
The pair exploited the agency’s American Indian Health Program (AIHP) by billing for services that were never provided to patients. Their fraudulent actions resulted in approximately $3.3 million in illicit proceeds, according to officials.
Riley and Gooch are scheduled for sentencing on February 21. Both face severe penalties for their involvement in the scheme, which highlights ongoing concerns over healthcare fraud and its impact on public resources.
