It is time for the horses make the annual run for the roses at this year’s 144th Kentucky Derby. Are you ready to enjoy a refreshing mint julep and take in the annual tradition of one of the most exciting horse races? The Kentucky Derby runs on Saturday, May 5th, but you do not have to make the trek to Kentucky to enjoy the festivities. For good reasons, Turf Paradise hosts the largest derby party in town. The mint juleps are flowing, women wearing fancy hats and guys in seersucker suits, it’s not a party to miss. There are several Kentucky Derby packages available on race day, which include the Clubhouse Buffet for $65 that offers plenty of delicious food in an air-conditioned and glass-enclosed clubhouse.

Looking to watch the race in classic Southern style, then head to Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Attendees can enjoy the Kentucky Derby with brunch and a lawn party. The party is themed after the “Millionaire’s Row” at Churchill Downs and will include mint juleps, activities on the “Winner’s Circle,” live music and Bulleit Bourbon tastings. The brunch includes a commemorative Kentucky Derby glass and a complimentary mint julep and a champagne toast. Make sure to come dressed in your best Kentucky Derby attire to Those partake in a contest. Winner will receive a weekend getaway to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, dinner for two at Bourbon Steak and a day at Well & Being Spa.

Located in central Phoenix, the Southern restaurant will serve up mint juleps and plenty of tasty food options. Partiers are strongly encouraged to wear derby attire as there will be a costume contest. Prizes for the best men's and women's hats, and best derby outfit will be handed out.

In the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Bevvy is the perfect place to enjoy the Derby with four betting booths for your off-track bets. Enjoy the racing action on 80-inch televisions. Table reservations can be made by calling ahead. Champagne specials are available or enjoy one of the traditional Bulleit Bourbon mint juleps. Bevvy will feature a best dressed contest with generous prizes going to the ones who are dressed to impress.
