Warning – Birth Control Recall

Due to the printing of inaccurate information, three lots of ORTHO-NORTHUM birth control are being recalled.

Janssen Pharmaceuticals announced that the incorrect instructions printed on the dispenser could result in unintended pregnancy.

The error has the potential to lead users to ingest an inactive “reminder” pill as opposed to an “active” pill, which could cause pregnancy or breakthrough bleeding.

The lots included in the recall are ORTHO-NOVUM 1/35 and ORTHO-NOVUM 7/7/7. To recognize a recalled lot, look for a NDC number on the carton. The number will either be, 50458-176-06, 50458-178-06, or 50458-178-12.

Visit the official FDA website here, for additional information regarding the recall. Janssen Pharmaceuticals can also be reached directly by calling 1-800-526-7736.
