Uninsured Children Can Receive Free Vaccines On Saturday

Vaccinations are vital when your child is attending school. The Phoenix Fire Department wants to help parents get their children ready for school by providing free vaccinations for uninsured and underinsured children.

The Baby Shots program is available for kids younger than 18 that are uninsured, or covered by KidsCare and Medicaid, and vaccines will be given on Saturday at two locations.

The vaccinations will be conducted at the Maryvale Community Center from 10 am to 1 pm and at the Ranch Market from 7 am to 11 am.

If you’re interested in having your kids receive their vaccinations, please bring your child’s shot records.

The vaccinations protect against: pneumococcus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, pertussis, polio, rotavirus, meningococcal disease, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, human papilloma virus, and varicella. The shots are financed by the Vaccines for Children Program.

Vaccinations for children are important because Phoenix was flagged in a study as a location with a high probability of potential outbreaks. Phoenix also has a high number of parents who opt-out of vaccinations, and almost 3,000 kindergarten students in the county didn’t receive vaccinations last year.
