Skin Ages Faster In Phoenix According To Report

Ranking No. 4 on the list of United States cities where skin ages the fastest is Phoenix, according to a Sunscreenr report.

Sunscreenr creates devices that allow people to see when sunscreen has worn off or if they missed a spot applying sunscreen.

The report on skin aging looked at cities in the U.S. that have over 100,000 residents and rank no lower than the fifth out of nine sun-exposure levels determined by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Skin color of the population, regional poverty level, ultraviolet light penetration volume in an area and the environment’s “beach culture,” the degrees to which sunscreen usage is encouraged and normal, were the factors included in the Sunscreenr report.

According to the report, Phoenix is located in a level-nine NREL region, which is the most naturally skin-damaging zone possible.

The high percentage of private pool ownership was one of the reasons for Phoenix not being ranked higher in the report. Even without an ocean nearby, this led researchers to considering Phoenix as a form of “beach culture.”

No. 2 on the list was Tucson, which is located deeper in a level-nine NREL zone than Phoenix, according to the report.

Tucson was also ranked higher due to a higher poverty rate and lower rate of private pool ownership than Phoenix. Researchers claimed that residents live with a slightly elevated risk of skin damage as a result of those two factors.

Four Texas cities made the list, with Laredo named as the city where skin ages fastest in the U.S. Two Nevada cities are on the list, along with one from Colorado and New Mexico.

While the report and the research can be alarming, the risk of sun damage can be greatly reduced with the proper application of sunscreen.
