Sedona Northern Lights Show Returns For Year Two

The largest 3D light show on a natural canvas in all of the United States is back for year two.

Sedona Northern Lights, a four-day holiday spectacular, will be the focus of the area with Kimpton Amara Resort and Spa to serve as the central point for the event.

Running from Dec. 13 through Dec. 16, the event will bring a whole new look to Sedona’s famous red rocks with help from the largest 3D projection system ever to be used on a U.S. natural landscape. The show will be displayed four times each night on Camelhead Rock from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the top of every hour.

The best view of the action can be found at SaltRock Southwest Kitchen, Amara Resort’s signature restaurant, and numerous other areas on the resort’s property. Visitors can experience “front-row” room views, dinner reservations and courtyard festivities while overlooking Camelhead Rock.

During Sedona Northern Lights, guests can enjoy a number of different experiences, including:

• A resort stay with room rates from $199 per night. Book at AmaraResort.com.

• A three-course tasting menu at SaltRock by Executive Chef Logan Stephenson ($55 per person). Reservations highly recommended (928-340-8803).

• Courtyard happenings include cornhole and other lawn games; snuggling up under a cozy blanket in one of the many cheery, yellow Adirondack chairs with a SaltRock craft cocktail in-hand and roasting marshmallows over the outdoor fireplaces with the resort’s S’mores kits.

Free of charge and appealing to people of all ages, the show can also be viewed from all of Uptown Sedona and Gallery Row. Viewers will have rare chance to celebrate the unique, natural Sedona landscape with a holiday twist.

The state-of-the-art technology of 3D projection mapping uses specialized software to transform objects or structures into display surfaces for video projection. These surfaces often have irregular shapes, which can blur the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds.

In order to heighten the holiday experience, music will be played at certain viewing areas and may also be heard by tuning into KAZM 780AM to add to the 3D display.

PaintScaping, a Los Angeles-based world leader in 3D projection mapping, produces the show that is presented by both the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau and the City of Sedona.
