Roosevelt Row Host 9th Annual Pie Social

Enjoy the sweet life with friends and neighbors as the community gathers for an afternoon of pie, storytelling, art, music and merriment at beautiful Hance Park on Sunday, Nov. 4 starting at 2 p.m. for the 9th annual Pie Social.

Pie Social will feature exclusive culinary creations by the best bakers in the business.  Participating businesses/restaurants include: Cartel Coffee Lab, Chico Malo, Copper Blues, Cotton & Copper, The Dressing Room, Handlebar Diner, Match Restaurant & Lounge, Matilda’s Pastries by Design, Nocawich, Ollie Vaughn’s, Social Hall and Welcome Chicken & Donuts.  They will be competing for several pie prizes such as “Best Taste,” “Best Presentation,” “People’s Choice,” and “Best in Show.”  Last year, Tamara Stanger from Cotton & Copper took home “Best in Show” for her ethereal and eclectic hibiscus vinegar pie.  Filling fans will also get to sample the flavors of amateur chef creations provided by the Arizona School for the Arts.  Admission to Pie Social is free and pie tasting tickets can be purchased for $15 (for 5 tickets).  Proceeds raised from Pie Social will benefit Roosevelt Row CDC.

Bar Flies, the popular downtown Phoenix-based live storytelling series, will host a special presentation of Shoo Flies, the sister version of their narrative performance at Pie Social.  Plus, attendees that afternoon will be treated to a live performance provided by nationally-recognized Roosevelt Row jazz venue, The Nash.

Sponsors for this year’s Pie Social include APS, Downtown Phoenix Inc., KJZZ-FM, the Phoenix Suns and True North.
