Playworks Arizona will Host Run at Phoenix Raceway

NASCAR fans and runners alike will unite on November 4, 2017, at the Phoenix International Raceway for the inaugural Run the Raceway event. This exciting race will be the first of its kind to take place on the track, and will give participants of all ages an opportunity to run on the famed course.

Run the Raceway is the sister event of another great race, Run the Runway, which recently celebrated its 5th annual event and an impressive turnout of over 2,000 racers. The proceeds from both events benefit Playworks Arizona, a non-profit organization established to help fight schoolyard bullying.

Playworks Arizona’s mission is to inspire confidence and imagination in school-aged students who do not always have opportunities to play. The program is supervised by Adults and Junior Coaches (student leaders) who lead organized games, but who also encourage the students to create their own ways to participate through free- and imaginative-play. Studying the Playworks Coach service, results show that the program decreases bullying behavior, increases physical activity, and supports learning.

Registration for Run the Raceway is now open at www.azruntheraceway.com. There are three different race options: the High-Five 300 (3 Laps/Miles), the Rock Paper Scissors 100 (1 Lap/Mile), and the Kids Dash (1 Lap/Mile). All registrants for the High-Five 300 and the Rock Paper Scissors 100 will receive an official race tri-blend tank top, trucker hat, commemorative bib, cinch bag, and limited-edition plastic medal (High-Five medals include a bottle opener and one free post-race beer). Racers in the Kids Dash will receive a medal. Participants also receive two tickets to the Lucas Oil 150 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on November 10, 2017, and are entered for a chance to win a VIP package to the CAN-AM 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on November 12, 2017.
