Phoenix’s International Airport Looking to Add International Destinations

Phoenix residents who fly out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport may have more flying options available to them soon.  The airport, which has been making improvements and renovations, is hoping to increase its international presence, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

Deborah Ostreicher, the airport’s assistant aviation director, said officials have their eyes on at least three destinations: Paris, Amsterdam and Tokyo.

While Sky Harbor already offers direct flights to London and Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam are major airports for European airlines. The airport also offers 22 international flights.

Sky Harbor is adding an additional route this summer for London flights due to the high demand.

Ostreicher reported that the focus would be on business travel, not just increasing leisure travelers. To make a route possible, more than 50 people per day would need to travel to any international destination.
