Phoenix Plans on Making Massive Upgrades to Margaret T. Hance Park

Margaret T. Hance Park — also known as the “Deck Park” — is getting some serious upgrades as downtown Phoenix’s revitalization and growth continues. The city of Phoenix plans on adding a skate park, jogging trail, and splash area to the 32 acre park. The Phoenix Parks Department estimates that the upgrades will cost between $80 and $100 million dollars. The city plans on raising the funds through a private-public partnership, offering naming rights for private donations or sponsorships along with using tax dollars. The city also has an ongoing fundraising campaign and is still asking Phoenix residents for more upgrade ideas.

Margaret T. Hance Park is located between Third and Fifth streets just south of McDowell Road and is known as the “Deck Park” because it is located above the 1-10 freeway. Built in 1992 the park was named after one of Phoenix’s long-time mayors.
