The midwives who work at Banner Estrella aren’t only midwives, but they’re registered nurses who’ve successfully went through a nurse-midwife education program.

The hospital is also expecting a lot of new equipment to help midwives and patients. The hospital will be providing patients with tools — like free-standing tubs, rocking chairs, and showers — to help them with their pain.

The midwife births at Banner Estrella can be natural or involve medication. It’s all up to the expecting mother.

Midwives don’t only deal with births, but they also care for women throughout their lives. They help prepare a woman for pregnancy and support them afterward. They want to make sure women are educated and prepared for whatever life throws at them.

The midwife Birthing Center at Banner Estrella is set to begin accepting patients in September. It’ll join the already established programs at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and Banner Ironwood Medical Center.
