A two-year project that will involve spending $120 million will lead to the modernization of 200 McDonald’s restaurants throughout Arizona.

With 290 locations within the state, McDonald’s will be remodeling nearly 70 percent of its restaurants in Arizona. Renovations are already complete in some of its locations, allowing for a more appealing environment for its customers.

The parent company and franchisees will cover the costs of construction and modernization in Arizona. On a national scale, McDonald’s is investing $6 billion into restaurant upgrades within the next two years.

Included in the modernizing plans are touchscreen kiosks on which customers will be able to place orders themselves, with the new kiosks to be produced by a Scottsdale-based company. Additional costs will include new furniture, revamped counters, parking spaces for mobile ordering curbside pickup and easier-to-read menu boards in the restaurant and drive thru.

The project also includes additional opportunities for the company to grow its McCafé brand as it works to compete against coffee chains with expanded McCafé counters that will allow larger display cases.

Nearly 13,000 people are employed by McDonald’s in The Grand Canyon State. The project will also support local construction, architecture and engineering jobs throughout the state.
