Lou MalnatiÛªs Pizzeria, famous for its deep-dish pizza, will be opening a restaurant in Phoenix. Set to open May 16th in the Uptown Plaza at the Northeast corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road, the restaurant boasts 6,800 square feet of indoor space plus a 1,500 square-foot outdoor patio.
The new location will contribute to the major transformation at Uptown Plaza joining the likes of Sam FoxÛªs Flower Child and New York burger joint Shake Shack. This opening represents a momentous leap for the pizzeria, as this will be their first location outside of the Chicago area. Five members of the companyÛªs top managers are permanently relocating to Phoenix to oversee the new operations.
In an effort to replicate their signature pizza, the Chicago-based pizzeria will install a water filtration system to replicate ChicagoÛªs water in Phoenix, have fresh mozzarella cheese delivered from the same Wisconsin dairy farm that has supplied Lou MalnatiÛªs for over 40 years, and use the same California sun-ripened tomatoes as the locations in Chicago do.åÊ
Lou MalnatiÛªs Pizzeria has their eyes set on opening 10 possible more locations around the Phoenix area as they continue the Chicago restaurant pipeline, most recently by PortilloÛªs and SanfratelloÛªs, into the Valley of the Sun.åÊ
