Local Organizations in Need of a Helping Hand

The season of giving is here, and there is nothing more valuable that you can give than your time. If you’re looking to volunteer this holiday season, there are a number of local charitable organizations that could use some extra hands.

The Salvation Army

Volunteer opportunities with the Salvation Army go far beyond bell ringing. The Salvation Army Metro Phoenix has opportunities in sorting and packing, working with children, light construction, and, of course, donation collection.

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance

St. Mary’s prides itself as the first food bank in the world. They have local opportunities for packing and distribution, organizing local banks, and volunteering in the Kids Café preparing meals.

A Place to Call Home

A Place to Call Home serves families and adults with special needs. They have volunteer opportunities in special events, toy drives, and gift purchasing.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

With St. Vincent de Paul, volunteers have the opportunity to work in thrift stores, assist at the food bank, and serve in the fining halls.

In addition to donating time, St. Vincent de Paul has the opportunity to adopt a family by providing meals and gifts for families in need.

Arizona Pet Project

The Arizona Pet Project helps both families and pets, by assisting families in need with costs associated with their four-legged friends.

The organization has opportunities in administration, events staff and community outreach.

Ryan’s House

Ryan’s house provides hospice services to children in a supportive and comfortable setting. They have volunteer opportunities for Care Team Members, corporate volunteers, and organization representatives.

Save the Family Foundation of Arizona

Save the Family Foundation of Arizona helps homeless families by providing career services, housing assistance, and youth programs. The organization has volunteer opportunities for paint and clean projects, tutoring, and cleaning of the Save the Family facilities.
