Interstate 11 Features Art That Tells The History Of the Area

Not will the Interstate 11 reduce the drive time between Phoenix and Las Vegas, but it will also feature art representative of the history of the area. Built into the walls of the Interstate will be sculptures showing the creation of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead on the Arizona-Nevada border. Additionally, the art will boast multiple textures, colors, and it will even light up at night.

The $318 million construction project began in 2015. With funding from federal, state, and local governments, is being managed by the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. Arizona is investing $134 million toward a segment of the Interstate that will run from Nogales to Wickenburg and will be designated for the future Interstate 11. While a few miles of the Interstate in Henderson, Nevada has been open to the public for months, another 15 miles of the corridor is now open.
