Camelback Mountain is a prominent landmark in the heart of the Phoenix area and is named because of its obvious shape which resembles the hump and the head of a kneeling camel. The mountain is a very popular, but difficult hike in the Camelback Mountain Echo Canyon Recreation area between the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix and the Town of Paradise Valley.
