Disney Introduces Bedtime Messages From Your Kids’ Favorite Characters

Having trouble getting your kids in bed at night? Sprinkle some Disney pixie dust on their everyday routine.

Bedtime routines can be a point of difficulty for many families. If you have a tough time getting the little ones to bed at night, try out the new Disney Store hotline. The toll-free number connects your kids with beloved Disney characters like Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Donald & Daisy Duck, and Goofy.

The “Sleep Shop Hotline” has five unique messages that encourage kids to enjoy bedtime and get a good night’s rest. For example, Minnie Mouse will ask if the kids have brushed their teeth, yet. Goofy might tell them about his day with Mickey.

Disney’s goal of launching this new hotline is to give children something to look forward to at bedtime.

As part of the process, Disney partnered with pediatric sleep coach Lauren Olson, who offers a variety of helpful tips for parents struggling to nail down a nighttime routine for their family. Some of her suggestions include:

If your kid is waking up too early, you can try black-out shades that block sunlight early in the day. You can also invest in a light that gradually turns on when it’s time for them to wake up.

If they’re having trouble falling asleep without mom and dad, make sure your child has a stuffed animal or blanket for them to hold onto.

Be consistent with bedtime routine: “Decide on a consistent, yet flexible schedule that works for your life and stick to it as best possible,” Olsen says.

If your child is scared at night, try giving them a bedtime buddy (such as a stuffed animal) that they only get once it’s time for bed.

Olson says, “As a mom of two extremely busy toddlers, I know keeping consistent napping schedules and bedtime routines can be a major production.” She gives the suggestions as a way to help parents keep the stress low and the kids rested.
