Christmas Return Items Being Sold At Deep Discount In Phoenix Warehouse

Ever wonder what happens to the items that are returned after the holidays? One Phoenix warehouse is providing customers with the opportunity to buy those items at a large discount.

Located off Van Buren and 48th Avenue in Phoenix, SaleSumo sells everything from lights and fans, to mailboxes and bath tubs.

Instead of heading to the mall for sales after Christmas, Crystal Rosado went straight to SaleSumo.

“We had never heard of it, but my mother-in-law is like, you should check out this place,” said Rosado. “It’s pretty hidden, but has a lot of discounts.”

It might be hard to conceptualize how they got a hold of all these items.

SaleSumo President Brian Lesk said everything in their 65,000 square-foot warehouse results from a shopper at a big box retailer no longer being interested.

According to Lesk, the big stores can’t always restock return items, so it’s easier for them to re-sell returns at a big discount.

“The way the system works is – if a product doesn’t go back to a retailer, it goes to large warehouses, where companies like us have relationships with retailers and we take that product and sell it to the public,” said Lesk.

With Dec. 26 normally being the largest return day of the year, the many items will end up at the warehouse before being made available to savvy shoppers at half the price.

Most of the items are brand new, and the rest have minor flaws like a damaged or opened box.

“People don’t realize, if they look a little bit, they’re gonna save a lot,” said Lesk.
