Cardinals to Take on the Raiders this Saturday

The University of Phoenix Stadium is set for the Arizona Cardinals to take on the Oakland Raiders this Saturday in their first home preseason game. Unlike Arizona’s first preseason game last week, the starters will play against Oakland.

Quarterback Carson Palmer and the starters will go an estimated 15 plays. Following Palmer will be Drew Stanton who will play for the second quarter and Blaine Gabbert to finish up the entire second half.

Coach Bruce Arians recently gave an injury update for the team and indicated who will or will not miss the game.

The starting left tackle D.J. Humphries has a minor hamstring strain. Humphries missed Saturday’s practice due to the injury. Arians reported that he will be fine in a day or two and should be able to play in the game on Saturday.

Philip Wheeler and Aaron Dobson are both expected to miss Saturday’s game due to injuries. Wheeler suffered an undisclosed injury last week resulting in him missing the preseason opener.  Wheeler will also miss the game against the Raiders. Dobson suffered a hamstring injury a while ago, is still not ready to return and will be out of the game.

It is reported that outside linebacker Jarvis Jones could miss game. Jones missed the start of camp with a quad injury, but he has since been dealing a back issue. He has been treated with an epidural.

Arians is confident that John Brown should return for this Saturday’s game.

Kickoff is at 7:00pm on Saturday, August 12th.
