App Creates Dangerous Platform for Pedophiles to Harm Children

A warning that all parents should not take lightly. Check your children’s phones and discuss the latest app that could be a great danger to your child.

Although the Live.me app requires users to be 13 and over before signing up, younger children are creating accounts with fake ages to bypass the rules. A woman named Bethany recently had an encounter in which several strange men were encouraging her 8 year old daughter to remove her clothing and change into a new outfit, all while the app streamed her activity live. Several women using the app came across the live video and deterred her daughter from their advances, stating that the men are “creepers” and asking “Where is your mom?”

For research purposes while watching clips, at least 10 videos were streamed that showed using sex as a way to gain follows and likes.

Parents are now warning others that children frequently use these apps, feeling safe at home without realizing that pedophiles can easily find information about them. For example, you can easily locate a person’s home address if the location settings on the app allow it. Although it is prohibited, plenty of users engage in sexual activity to gain likes on Live.me, which draws concern.

Authorities encourage parents and guardians to put passwords on electronics and apps, so that children cannot get online without permission and supervision. Keep in mind, videos can be screenshotted, saved and made public through these streaming apps.
