Aloha! Southwest

Pack your lei’s because Southwest Airlines will soon fly to four destinations in Hawaii. These destinations will be the much sought-after: Honolulu, Kahului, Lihue, and Kona, and will most likely depart from Southwest’s busier airports in California.

Although Southwest has not released an official date for flights, there is some talk for the end of this year, and no later than 2019. While the Boeing 737s is awaiting certification, other planes will be ready for takeoff soon after. CEO Gary Kelly assures that there will quickly be more than one route to the island.

Another big question remains, if Southwest will offer connecting flights intra- island. At this time, no specific answer has been given, but the airline is aware that these high frequency routes are critical for success. They listened to their frequent-fliers for flights to Hawaii, it is no doubt they will honor this request.

Similar to its expansion to fly internationally in 2014, this change will reach new heights for the airline; so grab your boarding pass and be a part of the most relaxing change yet!
